December 4: Leaflets containing a four-page letter by National Intelligence have been distributed at some places in Rangoon, it is learnt. The letter clarified that the major players in (former Prime Minister) Gen Khin Nyunt and the
Military Intelligence’s demise were SPDC (State Peace and Development Council) Chairman Sr Gen Than Shwe and Industry-1 Minister U Aung Thaung. The letter also pointed out that (SPDC Vice Chairman) Vice Sr Gen Maung Aye had no knowledge of the matter.
