A Landmine and a bomb exploded in two separate incidents in Burma on the same day, with one person critically wounded in one explosion.

A villager, U Kyaw Lwin, 35, from Myaung U Village in Kyaukkyi Township of Bago State, lost his left leg in a landmine blast near his village on 25 January.

He stepped on the mine as he was returning on his way home from his farm.

Another bomb went off on the 25th in downtown Tachilek, a town in southern Shan State on the border with Thailand, but no one was injured in the explosion.

The military government blamed the explosion on Burmese insurgents, but no insurgent group was mentioned by name in the accusation.

On 15 January, a parcel bomb exploded at a post office in Shwegondaing of Rangoon, critically wounding one postman.

With multiple explosions happening in Burma within one month, many ordinary people are fearing for their safety.
