A moderate earthquake shook in central Burma on early Tuesday but no injuries or damage were reported, according to the department of meteorology and hydrology in Ministry of Transport.
The 5.7 magnitude quake occurred at 5:12 a.m. (local time). Its epicenter was 290 kilometers (180 miles) northwest of Rangoon, Director General of the department Htun Lwin told The Irrawaddy in Tuesday morning.
The director added that the epicenter was just 65 km (40 miles) away from Naypyidaw.
Some residents in Naypyidaw said that they felt the earthquake for 3 minutes. The Associated Press reported that residents in Rangoon also felt the quake.
