An exercise ban has been imposed on political prisoners in Rangoon’s Insein prison, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners-Burma (AAPP). Almost two months after Cyclone Nargis devastated Burma, the preliminary findings of the Post-Nargis Joint Assessment team dispatched to the damaged areas have confirmed that more immediate, lifesaving relief still needs to be provided. At the meeting to discuss these findings, the military regime nudged the official death toll up to 84,537 from 77,738. (more…)
