A Netherlands trade delegation will visit Myanmar early next year for talks on investment opportunities, including in the hydropower sector, it was announced on December 3.
The planned visit was announced after a meeting between the Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ms Liliane Ploumen, and Myanmar’s Minister for Economics and Commerce, U Win Myint, on the sidelines of a World Trade Organization trade ministers’ meeting in Bali, Indonesia.
U Win Myint said Ms Ploumen had accepted his invitation to visit Myanmar next February for talks on investments in hydropower and other projects.
Cooperation in private sector development would also be discussed during the visit, U Win Myint said.
Ms Ploumen said the delegation would also be interested to meet members of Myanmar’s civil society organisations and its political parties, including National League for Democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Win Myint said.
